Here are a few questions you might have right now:

What is this?

It’s a social network, where you have to use your real name, and we’re all neighbors in real life. It’s an online community that helps our real-life community. It’s a way to meet your neighbors, help each other, and organize community events.

The New Dundee Net is run by volunteers (started by Erez Zukerman, a New Dundee resident), and supported by the Optimist Club. Nobody is making money off the project, nor is any future profit planned.

But we already have Facebook.

Yes – but Facebook is huge. The New Dundee Net is modeled after Front Porch, a social network that’s local to Vermont and that has seen great success there.

What will we talk about?

We’ll have to see. Some ideas that come to mind:

These are just ideas. It basically comes down to what people want, and how many people are interested.

Is this really going to work?

That’s up to us. The good news is that it is entirely for the residents – it’s a fun little experiment. Maybe nothing will come of it, or it might turn into a thriving online community. Let’s see.
